Paws Up!

Several have asked about my sign off of "Paws Up!" and what it means. For me this is a phrase that has several meanings (as all good catch phrases should have). The first and foremost, and probably the one most will think of, is the dog-version of "thumb's up". Okay, it can be the cat version too, so all you cats out there can stop swishing your tail and settle down. So the meaning is great job, fantastic day, way to go, ready for take off and all of that good stuff.

For me, the phrase has more meanings than just the similarity to "thumb's up". From the time I was a small puppy, who didn't even know what her paws were for, whenever I was confronted with something that made me think, I pulled one of my paw's up in the air. Why I did it as a puppy? Who knows? Why do I still use the same gesture? Simple. I get what I want. For instance, if I want a treat, I get in front of my Papa, wag my tail, smile and then sit down and put up my paw. He knows that I'm asking for a treat every time. (And since he is such a soft touch, I always get it to0).

I also like to dance, so I stand on my hind legs, put my paws up in the air and sway with the music. Just imagine me dancing & skipping down the street to "Put Your Hands Up!" Then there is also putting your paws up when its time to take a nap. And whenever I'm unsure about something and the alert "Danger, Will Rogers" is sounding in my head, I put my paw up in case I need to make a quick get-a-way. Readiness is the key.

So. . . with all of that being said. . . Paws Up! (who knows, you just might get a treat!)

Holiday Howls

I'm sorry that I haven't had a chance to get to the computer and let you know what has been going on with Gryphon and me, but my Mama has been hogging the keyboard. She's been tied up with getting a new aspect of the business up and running. Something about selling 24/7 computer support through Juvio ~ Solutions for Life. She seems to think it makes a lot of sense for the average home user and some small businesses because the price is very reasonable. I never get my fuzz in a fluff over computer issues. First of all that's what my Mama does for her day job and secondly being the princess of the house, that is always someone else's job.

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that we went to visit my cousin Harley this past weekend. She has calmed down a little since we saw her on New Year's, but she still thinks we're some kind of squeak toy for her to play with. Being a black labrador puppy, she doesn't realize that she is gargantuan in comparison to our petiteness. I couldn't believe it when Gryphon was thinking about playing with her (for one brief and incredibly crazy moment). I think her head is bigger than I am and I almost took a ride on her nose when she was trying to say hello to us under the kitchen table (where we were hiding).

I jumped up in my Grammy's lap for a few moments and introduced myself to the newest member of the family - little Sammy J. I have to say, she's pretty cute, but she sure does sleep a lot. Puppies are a lot more rambunctious at that age, and fuzzier.

Well, here comes Mama again, I'll bet she needs to use the computer again.

I'll post again as soon as I can grab the keyboard away. Until then. Paws Up!

A Dog's Life

Okay. Everyone has heard the phrase “A dog’s life” and it is used like it is supposed to be a bad thing. I’m here to tell you that a dog’s life can be pretty sweet. Take this morning for instance, everyone was sleeping nicely and all of a sudden this great whopping buzzer starts ringing. Both Mama and Papa start groaning and slooowwly moving to get the day started. Gryphon and I poked our heads out from underneath the covers, saw that it was still dark out and put our heads back down to continue our very good sleep.

There was that slightly uncomfortable moment when Papa insisted that we go outside to “take care of business”. But then, it was back inside for our short commute from the bedroom to the den, where we keep our nice comfortable cage. We snuggled down in the fleece and Papa and Mama left for the grind of the work day and driving in the rain.

Gryphon and I heard the rain coming down, and I must admit we both snickered behind our paws that all of the adult two legged creatures have to go out in the bad weather to their job, still tired from their self-imposed time change while we had to get on with our early morning nap, to be followed by our mid-morning drowse, not to mention the stretch & shift routine in the afternoon, just prior to our afternoon slumber.

Now. . .That’s a dog’s life! Paws Up!
